PAKAN (Sarawak), Feb 5 -- Julau Member of Parliament Datuk Joseph Salang said state opposition party the Sarawak Workers Party(SWP) should use the iconic Barisan Nasional "Dacing" symbol instead of its own in the coming general election.

"This will really show that it supports the coalition to back up its often repeated claim made in its gatherings in the state rural areas.

"Its leaders are always telling the grassroot that the party is endorsed by Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Tun Razak and (Sarawak) Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud," he said at a meet-the-people session at Rh.Jally anak Paing in Nanga Segera in here Tuesday.

Taib was the guest-of-honour of the gathering where he had earlier performed the earth-breaking ceremony for a RM400,000 bridge to facilitate crossing of the Ulu Julau river in front of the 26-door longhouse.

Salang said the opposition party was envious of the proven track record of the BN.

"It is resorting to making the claim in its efforts to cheat the rural folks into voting for its candidates in the coming general election," he said.

Meanwhile, Salang who is also Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister, said rural areas in the state still needed the BN leadership to help them to develop and progress.

He said while their physical progress was important, it was also equally important that they had economic development for the people to eke out a decent living.

"The BN under the leadership Najib at the federal level and Taib at state level is still the best choice for the people.

"It has the experience in implementing development activities. It has got the resources and the manpower to do so.I am very confident the voters will return it to power again," he said.
